Trap does not have an “O” ring- which has been replaced with some kind of swivel so you could attach clip holding a drag. Pan is light with some lettering missing in places. The Newhouse clamps have a narrower spin on the back as well as a shorter neck on the screw handle. Some Newhouse clamps, all but the tear drop #6 clamp, it is most likely Herters. Also note that on the steer horn clamps, there is a narrow model for the forged spring traps and a wide model for the machine spring that have a wider neck.<p>#14. Newhouse trap. Dec 17, 2022 · northern New Hampshire. I have a set of four No. 48 Oneida Newhouse ATC traps for sale. These traps are all a matching lot and excellent all the way around. They are 100% original with five foot chains with rings. No trappers marks. Beutiful pans. They were logwood dyed over 60 years ago and have not been used since. This trap is a Newhouse 1.5 trap. I looked in tom Parrs book and only found 1 time period when that trap was made.1882-95.However the pan markings indicate 1937-66. #4 raised pan.I am guessing.someone changed the pan.Also one spring seems a little newer than the other. The slots in the pan are for what is called a breast plate, that raised the height of the pan up above the teeth when the trap is set. Price will depend on where it was made. That will be the stamping on the bottom edge of the pan. Being brand new, I would think $125.00 absolute minimum. Possibly higher. Tell him to leave the trap exactly the way he found it. Don't clean it. Don't dip/dye it. Don't do anything!!
