First time posting here. I spent some time searching for an island seed for 0.16, and I think I lucked out. This seed has all the goodies... big iron, copper deposits, convenient stone and coil, oil, and even uranium. I find 95% of all seeds to be good. You need to specify more what you want. For a new player I recommend starting in forest rather than desert so that lowers the number a bit, but still very common. If you just want more resources do what Ithnann suggested and check the settings.My advice is to set the generator settings to this: very big and frequent water, normal-big starting area. If it doesn't give you a peninsula, you still will have something with decent choke points.
