I have had all three versions, Hated the first two, love the F4 version, very sharp already at F4, I cant tell the difference (sharpness wise) between the 24-70 and the 24-120 at F5.6 and on. Only weakness is vignetting and distortion at wide angles, Lens correction in CS5 takes care of that.

I’m thinking about adding the 28mm f/2.8 SE. But I notice that most of Viltrox’s full-frame lenses for Z-mount include aperture rings and are priced right (generally $379 U.S.). The first MH-18a I got came with the D200 and shipped with the EN-EL3e. The MH-18 and EN-EL3 only have two contacts, whereas the MH-18a and EN-EL3e have a third contact. Received my Nikon 180-600 on Thursday & shot some football with it on Saturday. For the most part I was happy with the results. The versatility of the lens is a great plus. First football I've shot in 247 days so knocking off some rust while getting used to a new lens. Camera used was my Z9.

So the D500 gives you more pixels in a DX sized image. If the DX magnification effect is what you are after I suspect the D500 is the better choice. Bargin lenses from KEH are often much better than the rating would imply but I'd steer clear of this one. I trust these folks and if they says it's loose, you can bet it is. It also might mean they opted not to repair it for some reason as they have an in-house repair facility.
