Most of the time you fight against low tier AI army, it's easy to make money and you fast on the map.

What makes it so good though is that you can rapidly capture cities and castles without worrying about rebellions. There's about x3 Empire cities compared to all other cultures. Vlandia is my current choice because the mercenary mechanic was fin to try, the castle perk is good for an early kingdom and the debuff is currently a buff.
