Hikari H7s (low beams) are very good and throw no canbus errors. High beam are very difficult to insert anything other than halogen. Some LEDs might work.
The difference between the 981 and 982 engines isn’t just one of sound. It’s what you feel. The flat six gets connected to your body through the vibrations you feel. There is a visceral difference in how you directly connect with the engine. The 1080 is richer clearer quieter. Voices sound much better and I would trade up but for the presence of the room or hall is not as present. There is tremendous hall presence with the 981. Lots of reflected sound off walls of the recording space that give you more info about where things are in the hall. The low end torque lets you hammer down at any point and you get long pulls from 3-7k rpms. 718 S is on another level.
