A stock STI Edge or Tactical was $1899 MSRP. A Staccato P is $2099. It’s the optic ready ones that add a lot to the price, but that’s always been the case with STI. They made a 2011 that fit the budgeted set of 2011s, meant to be finally finished by a final gunsmith and tuned properly with mags for it.

I’ve seen a lot of upgraded and customized Springfield DS Prodigy’s out there that look great. I know of the QC issues with the stock Prodigy’s which seem to be fixed by upgrading some of the internals. It seems like you can actually buy a Prodigy, upgrade and customize it for the price of a Staccato P, or maybe even less.

Anything under 4k for a 2011 is a bargain nowadays.I took 3 Springfield Armory Prodigy 20rd magazines to the range. I loaded all to 20 rounds with 124gr NATO loaded by Winchester. From a locked back slide, with a loaded 20rd mag in my Staccato P, I was able to depress the 10-8 (OEM to Staccato) slide release, and chamber and fire all cartridges. The problem arose upon rounds complete.Just from this one photo I would bet that the build quality is better on the Staccato. That doesn't mean the springfield won't be a reliable gun though. You're talking about a $900 price difference between the prodigy and a staccato p that's optic ready.
