I made it to the Crown and the escape pod at one point and did fix pod and the door opened and the horde of zombies attacked I was overwhelmed and lost/died. Since then I've spent countless hours finishing up the ark and collecting CPUs and completing the shelters, etc. so I came back set up a ton of defenses to get ready for the fight and it just let me escape the island...
