The Firing pin was super tight so much it was hard yo covk the gun. I worked on the firing pin. And got it to fire but I still think the firing pin is tight.My son has a Marlin 39A that my father bought new in 1946. Yesterday we went to the range, and the rifle fired one round then stopped. Further attempts to fire leave not a mark on the case rim. I imagine the problem is a broken firing pin. Not being a lever guy, I thought I'd come here for info.39A misfiring. Dec 20, 2014 · As I now own 2 pre 1974 Marlin 39A, I am looking to buy a firing pin or 2 to add to my spare parts bin. Brownells list a pin, but it says post 1974, and the photo shows a difference at the business end with the size of the cut-outs. Marlin Spares in the UK only show a post 1974 pin as well. Easy fix. Break down the receiver, pull the bolt and the firing pin is in plain view laying in a groove along the top of the bolt. Remove the old broken firing pin, clean the groove and put in a bit of lube. Then, lay in a new firing pin and reassemble. And go shooting!!!! Marlin M39s are a fabulous .22 rifle.

I change out to a Wolff reduced power hammer spring in my Marlin 1894C 357mag because I changed out the OEM two piece firing pin to a one piece stainless firing pin which is heavier firing pin. The reduced hammer spring makes the action smoother and the trigger pull lighter.
