The closer range allows for more consistent accurate readouts by using the same scan as the mining laser. It's broken. I doubt they intended to remove radar signatures from ping scans. Mining is severely affected as you're unable to identify the type or quantity of deposit unless you're at it.
The default keybinds for joystick axis in SC are: • Pitch on "Y" axis. • Yaw on "X" axis. • Roll on "Z" axis (twist on joystick) I do not like this and prefer Roll to be on "X" axis and Yaw to be on "Z" (twist) axis. Prospector will only 'sometimes' be able to scan asteroids. There are a few supposed work-arounds out there, but some of them can break the game enough you have to restart.
