Once it gets buggered, it tends to hang up on the passage in the frame. Check it by removing the slide, and while looking down at the top of the frame, depress, then release the grip safety. The FPS should move up and down freely. If it does not, a little dressing w/ a hard stone (on the safety, not the frame) should free it up.

Use Hoppes Number 9 solvent & a rag or cotton swabs to clean the outside of the barrel and guide rod assembly. Clean the inside of the barrel using a Boresnake that is the correct size for the caliber of the gun. In this case, 45 ACP. Insert the small end of the Boresnake and pull it through slowly at lease 2 times.Pin the spring in place. Lift and rotate the follower. Remover the spring. The exact rotation varies with the design of the follower. Kimber went thru several changes with the finish on the frames of the Tacticals.
