Nov 18, 2002. Seattle / Tacoma. Berry apparently had two Tractor basses. An earlier 60's natural/dot neck, and a later 60's burst/block neck one. I remember seeing in a Fender Bass street newsletter, the Custom Shop made a few Tractor basses, but I can't remember which version. Jul 4, 2006 #14.

HH were heading up in the world about the time I left the UK in late 73. I owned a twin 15 cabinet of theirs for a while over here. On a trip back I saw the HH brand on a cheap and nasty little practice amp.1) Use a flatheaded screw driver and pull out all the frets. 2) Use 220 grit sandpaper (pretty fine grit) and sand it down till smooth (its rough after you take the frets out). 3) Take wood filler and fill each slot with it and let dry for a couple hours.The neck is about as svelte as a baseball bat and the 100% genuine ebonized fingerboard is pitiful. The finish flakes off for no apparant reason and the end pin is so poor it feels like the thing is mounted on a swivel. He has been told that to get this thing in decent shape would require $6-700 minimum.

It was a Fender copy before they really made a variation of there own designs, even had the Fender headstock shape. It was a killer bass, I would rate it quality wise right up there with Japan Fenders of the 80's.

Feb 8, 2021 · Shortscales are all I play now and my favorite P bass tone comes from my Fender Mustang PJ LE bass specific to GC. Brands I've used are Silvertone, Danelectro, Kay, Hofner, Fender, Squier, Epiphone, Harmony, SX, Ibanez, Krappy, Gretsch, Rogue, Eastwood and Dan Armstrong/Ampeg. I think I remembered them all.
