Systems in NMS don't really feel a part of the Galaxy either, you can't see the galatic plane in the background and the instancing is more obvious than Elite when jumping. But I suppose part of NMS's charm is it's more a stylistic streamlined sci fyi styles rather than leaning towards realism.
