I see just two options. First is make it harder to break a gate or a fence. Like it would take 5 axes to break it through. Or second option is make it unbreakable and set a time scale for disappearing. For example if you won't log in in 14 days, your base disappear.

I start the video and it's covering all of base building, so I set the phone down and go back to harvesting planks for more boxes. I harvest my fill of planks and head back to base. I set my lock and start building some wooden boxes.

This should reset the walls to 45 days again. I think this method works because on our server we have the BuildAnywhere mod where I have two walls build on top of each other.
